Gail Nyoka's written works and oral stories span the globe: Britain, Canada, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Egypt; and they encompass historical and the emerging present times.
An award-winning playwright, she writes for theatre, radio and oral performance, as well as being a novelist for adults and young people. Quill and Quire called Gail’s children’s novel, Mella and the N’anga: an African Tale, “a tour de force of storytelling.” Her previous work has been short-listed for international awards, and Mella Mella, her play for young audiences was the winner of the Chalmers Canadian Play Award.
Gail was born in Trinidad, grew up in London, and has lived in Wales, Canada and the US.
