During an extended stay next to a jungle in Central America, Susan Grundy veered from drafting marketing reports to writing fiction. Her debut novel, Black Creek (forthcoming from Inanna Publications), was inspired by Huguenot ancestors who fled persecution in Europe to farm the land now occupied by Toronto’s York University and Black Creek Pioneer Village. Two of her short stories have been published in literary journals: “The Meeting” in The Danforth Review and “Rooftopper” in Montréal Writes. She has recently completed a memoir, Mad Sisters, a caregiver's story about a lifelong struggle to break through the barrier of mental illness in search of sisterhood. A graduate of McGill University, Susan ran her own marketing company for twenty-nine years. She divides her time between Montreal and the Eastern Townships. She still dreams of the jungle, especially in winter.
