Paula Wild is an award-winning author of seven books including her newest release, Return of the Wolf: Conflict & Coexistence (Douglas & McIntyre 2018), a Silver Medal winner in the Environment/Ecology category of the Independent Publisher Book Awards. Her previous book, The Cougar: Beautiful, Wild and Dangerous (Douglas & McIntyre 2013), was a BC Bestseller in Canada, as well as the Gold winner for Foreword Review’s Nature Book of the Year in the USA. The Cougar was also shortlisted for the BC Book Prizes Bill Duthie Booksellers' Choice Award. Wild is also the author of The Comox Valley; One River, Two Cultures: A History of the Bella Coola Valley and Sointula Island Utopia. All appeared on the Vancouver Sun BC Bestseller list soon after publication. Sointula received an award from the BC Historical Federation, which cited the book as “a significant contribution to BC history.” Commissioned books include The Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park and Memories: One Hundred Years of Living. Known for her conversational and engaging style, Wild’s work has appeared in British Columbia Magazine, Canada’s History Magazine, the Vancouver Sun and numerous other periodicals. Many of her 1,000+ articles have been cover stories. Her articles have been nominated for the National Magazine Awards and she received the John Alexander Award for “On a Mission for Life.”
