Biography

Pam’s passion for history and social justice inspires her poetry, short stories, articles and novels. She has mentored writers through the Canmore Shoe Project, Writers Guild of Alberta Borderlines’ Program and as a Story Coach with Alexandra Writers Center. Her novel, Kalyna (Stonehouse Publishing), won the Canadian Authors Association Exporting Alberta Award in 2017.

How do authors interpret archival photos, diaries, letters and family history and turn them into a gripping novel?  Using examples from her novel, Kalyna ( Stonehouse Publishing, May, 2016), author Pam Clark whisks her audience on a historical journey to early Alberta as settlers sail across the Atlantic to Montreal and onward to begin life anew on the Prairies. Audience members will be encouraged to “imagine a place” inside one of the photos and share their interpretation in this engaging interactive workshop.
