Orm Mitchell grew up in High River, Alberta. He studied English at the University of Alberta (Honours BA and MA) and completed his PhD (on William Blake) at King's College, University of London (England). He is a Professor Emeritus of the Department of English at Trent University where he taught Canadian Literature, Romantics, Film and Creative Writing. He has written critical essays on William Blake, film, and W.O. Mitchell. He and his wife Barbara co-wrote a two-volume biography of his father, W.O. Mitchell (M&S 1999 and 2005). He is currently working on a memoir and a number of W.O. Mitchell projects including a one-man stage play based on An Evening With W.O. Mitchell (to be premiered at Rosebud Theatre in September 2023) and a stage musical of Who Has Seen the Wind.
