Joseph Howse
BIO
Biography

Joseph Howse writes fiction, as well as technical books on computer programming and image analysis. He lives in a Nova Scotian fishing village, where he chats with his cats and nurtures an orchard of hardy fruit trees.

His debut novel, The Girl in the Water, has won the 2023 Independent Press Award for Literary Fiction, the 2023 IAN Book of the Year Awards for Outstanding Multicultural Fiction, and the 2023 IPPY Awards Bronze Medal for Best Regional Ebook (Fiction). Also, it is a Distinguished Favorite in the 2023 NYC Big Book Award for Literary Fiction and a finalist in the 2023 Eyelands Book Awards, the 2022 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards for Multicultural Fiction, and the 17th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards for New Fiction.

He has experience working with editors, publicists, and distributors in multinational teams spanning Canada, the US, the UK, South Africa, India, and New Zealand.

Joseph is a Canadian citizen, Panamanian permanent resident, and Estonian e-resident. He has travelled to six continents for business and volunteer work. He has won several awards from Bpeace (a pro bono consulting group) for his work on business mentorship projects in El Salvador and Guatemala.

His education (Dalhousie University) includes a BA in French, MBA in International Business, MA in International Development Studies, and Master of Computer Science.
