Biography

Eva Stachniak, born and raised in Wrocław, Poland, came to Canada in 1981 on scholarship to the Department of English, McGill University, in Montreal. In Poland she taught English literature at the University of Wroclaw. In Canada she has been a radio broadcaster and college English and Humanities lecturer. She holds a Ph.D. in English from McGill University.

Her debut novel, Necessary Lies, won the Amazon.com/Books in Canada First Novel Award in 2000.  She is an internationally best-selling author of historical novels: Garden of Venus, The Winter Palace, Empress of the Night, The Chosen Maiden, and most recently The School of Mirrors.
