Biography

Lauren Carter is the author of four books, including This Has Nothing To Do With You (Freehand Books) which Angie Abdou called "an antidote to apathy and despair" and Sarah Selecky described as "tender and devastating."
Her debut novel, Swarm (Brindle & Glass), was called "one of the more realistic recent imaginings of the shape of things to come" by the Toronto Star and was voted onto the Canada Reads list of Top 40 books that could change Canada.
Her poetry collections are Following Sea (Turnstone Press) and Lichen Bright (Your Scrivener Press). Her work has also appeared in anthologies including Best Canadian Stories (edited by John Metcalf), which published her story, Rhubarb, which won top prize in Prairie Fire's annual Writing Competition. 
She has been long-listed multiple times for the CBC Literary Awards and nominated for the Journey Prize and the Giller Award. She is a past recipient of the Manitoba Arts Council Major Arts Award, a $30,000 grant given to artists "whose works shows exceptional quality and accomplishment."
