I was born in Brampton, Ontario on February 1, 1948.  When Prime Minister Diefenbaker destroyed the Canadian branch of AVRO by cancelling the Avro Arrow in 1959, my father moved his family to Massachusettes, where he found employment at RCA in Burlington.  After spending ten years in the United States, I returned to Canada in July of 1969.
Three years of graduate school at York University and a year at University of Toronto's Faculty of Education gave me the qualifications I needed to begin a career in teaching.  In 1990, I succeeded in selling my first novel, TRAIL OF THE BLACK MOON to NAL Dutton, a branch of Penguin Books.  Due to the illness of the chief editor, publication was delayed for three years.  Retitled SISTERS OF THE BLACK MOON, the novel was finally published in January, 1994.  Though it sold 45,000 copies in its first four months, this success was short-lived.  An editor change at NAL Dutton resulted in the cancellation of their entire line of Paleo-Indian novels in 1994.
Since my retirement as a teacher in 2007, I have written three additional novels.
