Sarah Ellis was born in Vancouver in 1952. She earned a B.A. at the University of British Columbia. in 1973, and her MLS in 1975, and an M.A. at Simmons College, Boston in 1980. She writes a column on Canadian children's books for Hornbook magazine, and works part-time as a reference librarian and teaches occasional courses on children's literature and librarianship.
