Thelma Fayle is a freelance writer. She earned a late-in-life MFA from the University of King’s College, School of Journalism (Dalhousie), a BFA in non-fiction writing and a Humanities Diploma from the University of Victoria. She studied Peace Research and Norwegian Literature at the University of Oslo; Japanese language at Takushoku University in Tokyo and was a Rotary International group study exchange team member to the Philippines. Thelma spent twenty-five years as a systems analyst, researcher and plain language writer for the B.C. government; she wrote a weekly column for Postmedia Network; published articles in the Globe & Mail, the Toronto Star, Reader's Digest, CBC.ca, The Tyee, THIS magazine, the Montreal Gazette, the Times Colonist, Boulevard, Focus, The Blind Canadian, Bella Grace, Senior Living, Soar, the Highlander, and the Institute for Public Administration (IPAC) Journal. Her first book is Ted Grant: Sixty Years of Legendary Photojournalism. (Heritage House 2013) She wrote the book to honour a hard-working Canadian artist – because Canadians knew his work, but not his name.
