What is the issue?
The Writers’ Union of Canada is committed to identifying, removing and preventing barriers for people with disabilities in both our organizational work, and more broadly within the writing and publishing sector.
What TWUC is doing
The Union has developed accessibility guidelines for TWUC events, communications, and other organizational programs. In addition, the organization is guided by an Accessibility Policy. As part of TWUC’s commitment to equity and inclusion, the Union will meet, and wherever possible, exceed legislative requirements regarding accessibility in all of our activities.
Through work with the International Authors Forum, TWUC has actively endorsed all efforts to ensure more print works are accessible to blind, visually impaired, and otherwise print-disabled readers. This includes support for Canada’s signing of the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled (2013).
